LIVING ALONE DOES NOT MEAN I AM LONELY!

Living on your own does not necessary mean that you are lonely.

I am more likely to feel alone in a room full of people than in my own home.

I would be devastated if I had to live with others as my OCD would increase very quickly and ruin my life.

Just thinking of having to share all my facilities in my home, constantly cleaning up after others and having to wait in line to use the bathroom. I would probably end up in an institute.

The beauty I find in living alone is that I am free be me. No stress, no pressure, no mess, no noise, and plenty of time for me to reflect on my day without distractions.

I am an independent, sociable person and enjoy meeting up with friends and family once in a while, but I do not rely on others to make me feel alive.

The worse kind of loneliness for me is when people do not listen or even begin to understand me.

I am also an independent thinker and I like to see things from all different angles. I used to be rigid with my views which led to judgement and criticism, but since learnt that not everything is as straight forward as it seems.

There are very few people that I can say I am really close to. as special friendships and relationships are built up over years of loyalty, respect, and trust.

In general, I have many circles of friends with who I have acquired over the better times in my life.

What is a friend to me?

When I think of the word friendship, I think of the spiritual and emotional connection between human beings.

  • Loyalty
  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Encouragement
  • Understanding
  • Selfless
  • Support
  • Reliable

There are many more qualities that a true friend can bring into your life. Just because you don’t get to spend a lot of time with them you know in your heart that they are there for you and vice versa.

If you choose the right kind of people in your life you will never have to feel alone. It works better when the friendship is equally balanced.

I believe that you should not be quick to call someone a friend when their behaviour is toxic.

I would rather be alone without a friend if I had to tolerate these behaviours. It is not worth losing sleep over.

  • Competitiveness
  • Materialism
  • Emotional Extortion
  • Judgemental
  • Critical
  • Prone to gossip
  • Unreliable
  • Abusive
  • One-sided in loyalties
  • Malicious Behaviour
  • Jealousy & Envy

The list can be longer, but I prefer not to concentrate on the negative impact that people can have on our lives.

When someone presents with these kinds of behaviour you are better off alone as they will bring you down. They have no place in your life and they are not a good definition of friends.

I have been subject to all these toxic behaviours and if you continue to tolerate them you will end up spiritually and emotionally exhausted.

I believe I will never be alone if I continue to live the way of life that I have chosen. I pray to my higher power (God) every day to guide me on the right path and to take away any of these negative spirits of toxicity.

In everything there must be a balance.
